App Smackdown: Hosco
Hosco is a Hospitality based website/app that is similar to LinkedIn. The difference between LinkedIn and Hosco, is that Hosco is specifically designed for Hospitality students, educators, employers, employees and corporate executives. In Hosco, you have the ability to create your personal profile with your headshot, email and contact information, resume with references, language skills, work related skills and a brief biography on yourself. By signing up for this app, it gives Hospitality professionals the chance to network around the world with others. This app is wonderful for people seeking new jobs around the world and for employers looking to hire new employees. This app also offers videos and articles that gives tips on how to succeed in your career and your networking profile. Besides networking, the articles gives tips on how to prepare yourself for traveling to other countries, how to fully prepare yourself for your dream job interview and even you get to watch a video from the CEO of Marriott. This app/website is extremely helpful for someone like me, in the hospitality field. This app will definitely help me expand my networking abilities, not just for school, but down the road in my career path.

Hey Rosie!
ReplyDeleteHosco seems like a pretty helpful app for hospitality majors. Unfortunately, I am not one but I still found your presentation very interesting! Thank you for sharing!
I find it very cool that there is a specific app/network for those in hospitality. It makes a lot of sense to have an application like this, and there should be one for each field of interest/career, in order to build a connected learning network.

ReplyDeleteHi Rosie,
ReplyDeleteI know for me personally, I have never heard of the app called Hosco, so right away, I was curious as to what this app was and how I could use it in my life. I know I would have no use for this app as a future teacher; however, I think this is an awesome took for anybody who is in the hospitality field to get their name out there for better career opportunities. Thank you for sharing this app!
Rosie,
ReplyDeleteHosco seems like an easy web site to use and especially since it directly targets hospitality majors. Even though I will not be using this website since I am a business major it still seems very helpful for those who it does affect.
Although I am not in the hospitality industry, this seems like a great app! It would be great for developing ones personal network and resources. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteRosie,
ReplyDeleteThis app seems to be very useful for all hospitality majors. Even though I cannot personally use this app, I still enjoyed hearing about it and can share this with one of my teammates who is a hospitality major.
Rosie,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have never heard of this app before, I like how this is like a PLN for this in the hospitality field. This seems like a great way to stay connected and up to date!

ReplyDeleteGreat choice, Rosie. Your app is definitely one that is very relevant to this campus and region in general. Considering the fact that south jersey’s industry is tourism and given our close proximity to Atlantic City and all of its casinos and hotels, a networking/professional development app for young professionals within that niche is definitely well appreciated.
Hi Rosie,
ReplyDeleteI never heard of Hosco app but thanks for sharing it! It seems like it is geared towards hospitality, and management students. It is a great app to use for hospitality students as it’s like a LinkedIn but just more categorized towards hospitality fields. I like how you can put your experiences, biography about yourself, and find jobs for your field. I would recommend this app to any hospitality majors out there looking to find their next job. Although this app isn’t useful for my major in CSIS, I still enjoyed learning about it!
Rosie,
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this app before, but the point you made where you said it will be used in your career path, means it's a great tool.
It's also really smart that there are features in the app that give you articles on interviewing and other very important skills used in obtaining the job that you want.
Hi Rosie!
ReplyDeleteI have never been made aware of this app before! I can see the similarities it has to LinkedIn! I would like to bring this application up to my friend who is a hospitality major and see if she used its tools or has ever used it. if she has not I want to refer her to your smackdown! Great job!
